Best RC Car for Toddlers: Johnny Coupe Review
Mr Toy Reviewer likes radio controlled toys, but isn't so keen on the kids playing with them and breaking them. So when people started asking for suggestions for Christmas presents for the boys, an obvious idea was a remote control car for toddlers for Tiny Toy Reviewer #2. And so we ended up with Johnny Coupe by Chicco - the best toy for toddlers ever.
Why is Johnny Coupe so good?
Johnny Coupe is a cheerful and appealing looking car. He lights up when being driven, with his headlights glowing when moving forward and his brake lights illuminating when reversing. There is no sounds function on this RC car.
The greatest thing about this radio control car is how easy it is to use, making him perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. The remote control has nice, big buttons and it as simple as pressing forward, backwards, left or right to manoeuvre him. Both Tiny Toy Reviewers (aged 3 and 5) found it easy to get the hang of it, and the car drives well on both carpet and laminate. Johnny Coupe has had plenty of use, with Tiny Toy Reviewer #2 recently taking to creating assault courses out of Duplo for him.
But this RC car isn't just fun, it's practical too. I really like the fact that the remote control clicks securely back onto Johnny Coupe when not in use, ( he resembles an open top convertible when the controller is detached, and the remote forms the roof when you push it back into place before stowing the toy away). This eliminates the tedious hunt-the-remote game we have to play with some of the other electronic toys in our house. Both boys are usually capable of removing the remote control and replacing it without assistance.
Importantly, as this remote control car is aimed at toddlers and preschoolers, the toy seems very robust. It's been dropped a few times and it hasn't affected it at all. It also has an impressive battery life. In the 4 weeks since we got Johnny Coupe he has been played with most days but we've only changed the batteries in the car once, (and not at all in the remote). This is impressive given the fact most remote controlled vehicles eat batteries, (in my experience), and we're only using rechargeables.
Any bad points?
I have nothing bad to say about this toy, the design and fun factor is very good. Perhaps some parents or young children would prefer a RC car that makes sounds, but personally I think the Toy Reviewer household has enough noisy toys already.
Verdict
Johnny Coupe is the best RC car for toddlers you can currently buy. The whole family loves him. I prefer this toy to Mr Toy Reviewer's proper radio control car, and I think he secretly does too.
