Evil Dr Pork Chop Figure (Hamm, Toy Story 3)

Given the popularity of Toy Story 3 and the fact that anything based on the film could be found among the best selling toys of Christmas 2010, you'd think it would be easy to find a Hamm or Evil Dr PorkChop figure. Hamm is, after all, one of the most enduringly loved supporting characters from the trilogy. But no, tracking down this figure actually turned out to be a bit of a challenge.

Tiny Toy Reviewer #1 has loved Toy Story franchise since even before the release of the third movie, so over the last few years we've gradually accumulated most of the characters. Tiny Toy Reviewer #2 shares this passion and has recently taken to acting out the opening scene of Toy Story 3, so I was on a bit of a mission to find an evil Dr Pork Chop figure for his third birthday to complete the collection. The end result was this official Toy Story 3 Evil Dr Porkchop by Mattel.

Evil Dr Pork Chop figure - the good points

The detail on the figure is good. The likeness to Hamm in the films is excellent, and the evil expression well captured. Although you cannot actually use the figure as a money box he still has a (fake) coin slot and a cork underneath. He wears a bowler hat which is not detachable. The legs and the neck are jointed so the figure can be put in slightly different positions. At 7 inches long the toy is a decent size for the cost, in my opinion.

Toy Story Hamm figure - the bad points

There isn't anything too negative to say about this product. It's a nice quality action figure. The only point worth mentioning is that if your child has all of the official Toy Story 3 figures then the size of this Evil Dr Pork Chop figure is comparatively smaller than in the film. Personally I don't find this an issue, especially as the Woody and Jessie figures my children have aren't as large as the official ones. But if you do have being buying the Andy's Toy Collection range you may want to know that this Hamm figure is not a perfect match to the other toys.

Verdict and where to buy Evil Dr Pork Chop

I really like this Evil Dr Pork Chop figure and would definitely recommend it to other parents whose children really love Hamm. The problem is going to be tracking it down - even the Disney Store only has a plush Hamm soft toy and no 'proper' action figure. Toys R Us currently have the same version as I eventually bought the Tiny Toy Reviewers, priced at £7.45, but it sells out fast so you will need to check back regularly to catch it in stock. The other place I recommend trying is Amazon (where I bought ours), which occasionally gets some in.
